Jenzabar Delivers Internet Campus
Solution, Eight New Colleges Adopt The i3
Strategy
Education Software Leader's New Product Suite and
i3 Strategy - 'Intelligent, Integrated,
Internet' Approach Improves Education, Operations and Efficiencies
Atlanta, GA.Oct. 23, 2002Jenzabar, Inc.,
a leader in software solutions for higher education, today announced
eight new college adoptions of the Internet Campus Solution and
i3 strategy. These colleges include Seton
Hill University, Florida Southern College, Pamona College, Columbia
College Chicago, Ranken Technical College, Shorter College, Capital
College, and Berry College, with more of Jenzabar's 700 customers
also under implementation. The i3 strategy
of Intelligent, Integration and Internet encapsulates the features
and functionality of Jenzabar's Internet Campus Solution.
"Florida Southern College has found Jenzabar's
Internet Campus Solution to be the technology solution we need to
improve operations and efficiencies," said John Thomas, Director
of Information Services, Florida Southern College. "Software
is constantly changing. If our college used software from two different
vendors, Florida Southern would be responsible for maintaining the
interface between our ERP system and the academic software. But,
since both are managed by Jenzabar, the interface changes are something
we don't need to worry about.
Internet Campus Solution is the only Web-based software
suite that seamlessly integrates each end of a college campus, from
students to administrators to faculty, and delivers role-based access
to administrative and academic information. Since its introduction
on Sept. 9, 2002, Internet Campus Solution has been adopted by eight
colleges and universities, with more under implementation. The i3
strategy includes business practices and the Internet Campus Solution
suite to help colleges improve educational practices, campus operations
and efficiencies. The following are the three core benefits that
highlighted by Jenzabar's i3 strategy:
- Intelligent. Colleges and universities are well-known
for being "data rich, but information poor." Few institutions
can take advantage of their data warehouse and make intelligent
business decisions. The Intelligent component of Jenzabar's Internet
Campus Solution is comprised of Jenzabar's Data Mart product and
new Portlet technology. Jenzabar's database intelligence pushes
role-appropriate customized information. For example, a college
president will see daily enrollment and fund raising figures.
If a student advisor, the portlet provides necessary tools to
assist students, such as students' profile information and degree
audit. Portlets simplify the extraction of value based data from
application systems for trend analysis, with consolidated reporting
across multiple subject areas of the campus.
- Integration. Dealing with fragmented software solutions
for today's demading campus activities is a nightmare for most
IT staff. Jenzabar wraps the front-end portals and academic systems
with the back-end administration functions, providing campuses
with a unified package to serve an entire institution. The Integrated
component of Jenzabar's Internet Campus Solution is comprised
of the company's Series 300 and Series 200 ERP administrative
solutions. Jenzabar's Web services connect vital student admissions,
registration, financial aid and student billing information.
- Internet refers to Jenzabar's belief that true,
end-to-end Web-connectivity today is a competitive advantage for
colleges. The Internet component includes Jenzabar's course management
products and Web services foundation that underlies the whole
Internet Campus Solution. Jenzabar's Web services enable access
and interaction with all academic and administrative features
via the Web and wireless handheld devices.
"Growth in student enrollment, competitive industry
pressures and the need for improved efficiencies are requiring colleges
to improve their IT infrastructure by eliminating the patchwork
of systems and applications currently being used for solutions that
meet today's challenges," said Bob Maginn, CEO of Jenzabar,
Inc. "Jenzabar's Internet Campus Solution and i3
strategy improves campus wide communications between students, administrators
and faculty because it is the only solution that seamlessly integrates
all front- and back-end systems. With Jenzabar, colleges gain a
competitive advantage to use for student recruitment and faculty
and staff retention."
