Carl Albert State College Seeks to Improve
Its Competitive Edge
Selects Jenzabar to Provide Integrated Administrative Software System
CAMBRIDGE, MA-May 6, 2002-With campuses in Poteau,
Sallisaw and Idabel, Oklahoma, progressive Carl Albert State College
(CASC) prides itself on providing high-quality education with a
special emphasis on being student-friendly. That's why CASC leads
the State of Oklahoma this year in percentage growth.
The college is expanding its campus in Sallisaw, Oklahoma
and its operations on the Internet with four online degree programs,
which will be offered beginning Fall 2002. With this great growth,
CASC needs an administrative system to integrate and automate internal
operations and offer its students enhanced services through the
Internet. For these reasons, CASC began searching for a new integrated
administrative software system, reviewing and evaluating the offerings
of multiple vendors. "The system we selected had to help us
meet our goals," Dr. Joe White, President of CASC, states.
"It had to help us maintain - and grow - our reputation as
a progressive, innovative, and responsive school."
"In the newly competitive arena of Higher Education where anywhere,
anytime learning opportunities abound," Dr. White remarks,
"we needed to increase our competitive edge. We were eager
to launch new services to our students and our employees through
the Internet. We looked for an affordable, high-quality solution
offered by a company willing to continually improve itself and its
product."
CASC's three-year search process was extensive, involving
functional users and departmental and executive leadership. The
college selected vendor candidates and made site visits and calls
to many references. CASC's technical staff provided product technical
evaluation and assessment of the vendor training and implementation
process.
Why did CASC select Jenzabar EX? "Product functionality,
quality of references, implementation process, and cost," Dr.
White notes. "These were the factors that weighed heavily in
the final decision. We are very comfortable with our decision to
upgrade to Jenzabar EX, and we are very excited about our long future
together."
Now Carl Albert State College is even student friendlier.
About Carl Albert State College

Eastern Oklahoma in what is known as the state's "Green Country."
Surrounded by beautiful mountains and numerous lakes, the area is
a paradise for residents and tourists seeking opportunities to enjoy
the outdoors. The main campus is located in Poteau, Oklahoma. With
a population of 10,000, Poteau is the LeFlore County seat and has
been named one of "The 100 Best Small Towns in America."
Fort Smith, Arkansas, a metropolitan center of approximately 80,000,

The college is named in honor of area native The Honorable

In 1973, the college, with an enrollment of 300, was transferred
to the state system of higher education. CASC enrollment is currently
approaching 3,200 and is now the largest two-year institution in
the State of Oklahoma outside of Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Although
located in a rural environment, CASC is now the only two-year school
in a 40-mile radius serving a population base of 200,000 people.
Carl Albert State College began as a small institution
with a goal of providing excellence in the areas of academics, athletics,
and the arts. Targeting students gifted in the areas of academics
and leadership, the college has built a residential housing program
that currently accommodates 300 students and plans to construct
two additional facilities. Residential students are heavily funded
with scholarships through private donations/funding, some of which
is provided by CASC employees.
CASC is dedicated to fostering excellence and preparing
students to meet the challenges of the emerging global society.
CASC takes pride in offering choices to students and has received
national recognition for innovative programs and services. To serve
the individual needs of students, Carl Albert State College has
seven distinct operations that serve a total of 3,200 students and
some 6,000 guests at the Kerr Center and Museum:
- The central Poteau campus with its traditional
collegiate setting and housing for 300 students.
- The Sequoyah County Branch Campus, located in Sallisaw,
Oklahoma, that offers instruction in the core curriculum and areas
of specialization.
- The McCurtain County Higher Education Center, located
in Idabel, Oklahoma, providing degree programs and certificates
of completion through a partnership with two other state institutions.
- Distance Learning through interactive video made
available through the latest technology and telecommunications.
- Web-based Courses developed by CASC instructors
to provide educational opportunities through online technology.
- The Senator Robert S. Kerr Museum/Kerr Country
Mansion, a unique opportunity and setting for learning and experiencing
local and national history.

also introducing students and clients to cutting-edge business
practices.

services. Currently, the College has the highest graduation percentage
in our state. Additionally, the Fall 2001 semester set an all time
one-semester enrollment record with the college. As Carl Albert
