Princeton Review Ranks Jenzabar Client Among
America’s 25 Most Connected Campuses
St. Mary’s College of Maryland Named to Exclusive List for Second Year
St. Mary’s City, MD—November 1, 2004 – Jenzabar client St. Mary’s College of Maryland (SMCM) has been named one of the 25 most electronically connected campuses in America by ThePrinceton Review, with the complete rankings available exclusively at Forbes.com. Taken into account in this survey was the ratio of school-owned computers accessible to students, the sophistication of campus technology, wireless Internet access on campus, and the computer science curriculum.
The College uses Jenzabar CX enterprise software solution for admissions, registration, student financials, academic records, and a number of business and administrative functions.
“We strive to accommodate our student body of nearly 2,000 by offering multiple high-speed Web access connections in every dorm room, suite, and townhouse,” said Tom Botzman, SMCM’s vice president for business and finance. “Computer labs are located throughout academic buildings, several residence halls, and the library. Students have access from their rooms to ResNet, the SMCM Residential Network. With ResNet, students can connect at fast network speeds to the Internet and World Wide Web, send and receive e-mail, and access a rich array of SMCM resources for learning.”
George Waggoner, the College’s director of campus technology support services (CIO), said the library offers students the use of more than 20 wireless laptops, which can be used any time, any day, by any student on campus. “Whether in a dorm room, the library, or lounging in a hammock by the river, the College’s wireless network allows students to access the Internet from various zones on campus, including the library, academic buildings and the Campus Center,” Waggoner said. “The freedom of wireless provides students with the ability to enjoy the campus’ scenic beauty and still remain online.”
St. Mary’s College of Maryland is ranked among the best public liberal arts colleges in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and The Princeton Review. The Washington Post called St. Mary's College of Maryland “a place to get an Ivy League education at a public school price.”
