Southern California Attractions

Shopping within Walking Distance:

Seaport Village at West Harbor Drive at Kettner Boulevard

Northwest of the Marriott Hotel, Seaport Village is a waterfront complex of 75 shops and restaurants. The Discover Nature Shop is where to find gifts for the office, table-top fountains, wind chimes, and jewelry. The Magic Shop and Southpaw specializes in magic, games, gifts, and tools (especially scissors) for left-handed people. Seaport Village Shell Company carries shells, coral, jewelry, and craft items made from shells. Seasick Giraffe sells casual and dressy women's wear. Aside from the shops, there are horse and carriage rides, an 1890 Looff carousel, and usually some form of public entertainment. A quarter mile boardwalk connects this area with the Marriott Hotel & Marina.

Westfield Shopping at Horton Plaza

Westfield Shoppingtown Horton Plaza, bordered by Broadway, 1st Avenue, G Street, and 4th Avenue, is within walking distance of most downtown hotels. An open-air visual delight, the multilevel shopping, dining, and entertainment complex has a lively terra-cotta color scheme and flag-draped facades. There are department stores, including Macy's, Nordstrom, and Mervyn's, fast-food counters, upscale restaurants, the Lyceum Theater, cinemas, and 140 other stores. Park in the plaza garage and any store where you make a purchase will validate your parking ticket, good for three free hours. The San Diego City Store sells city artifacts and memorabilia, such as street signs and parking meters, that make unusual souvenirs. Or pick up a yellow "Surfing OK" sign and other San Diego-inspired items.

The Gaslamp Quarter

The Gaslamp Quarter is located in the heart of Downtown San Diego. It's eight blocks long (from Broadway to Harbor Drive) and two blocks wide (from Fourth to Sixth Avenues). The Gaslamp Quarter is home to nearly 100 restaurants, coffeehouses and nightclubs. So whether you opt for traditional food with a flair or something a bit off the beaten menu path, your visit to the Gaslamp Quarter will be a truly unique experience.
