System Administrator – Programmer

The System Administrator would be working from our product development office in Cincinnati, Ohio. In this role you will be working with a team to integrate, upgrade and develop hardware and software solutions that meet the ongoing changes requested for our leading enterprise CX product line. This dynamic job will call for flexibility in systems analysis, design and development utilizing your skills in Unix/Linux, C/C++, Informix, JAVA, Perl and integration of other 3rd party products. Emphasis will be on keeping all development and testing environments upgraded with current product releases and helping to maintain and enhance common layer applications using newer technologies.

Skills & Qualifications: Technical Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with application development using Java based OO technologies;
• 2+ years of experience in systems administration (hardware and software)
• Versed in a systems development methodology;
• Well versed in SQL and relational database models;
• SQL Database experience; Informix preferred and MSSQL is a strong plus;
• Experience with the UNIX operating system (HPUX, AIX and/or Linux);
• Strong working knowledge of Perl and Web Services;
• Working knowledge of the Apache HTTP Server is a strong plus;
• Experience with source code build and management tools (RCS, Make, Ant, Maven, CVS, Subversion)
• Experience working in a development environment that is supportive of client customizations;
• Experience in development of integrated modules and framework applications;
• Business knowledge of the Higher Education industry is a strong plus;

Soft Skills:

• Four year degree or certificate in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent;
• Proven ability and desire to both estimate tasks and meet deadlines, working effectively with minimal supervision in a team environment;
• Good analytical and problem solving skills;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
• Motivated, hardworking and flexible;
• Quick learner who enjoys a challenge and can see the bigger picture;

Responsibilities:

• Create the programming changes as defined by the architects to meet business needs;
• Preserve a consistent and usable interface over the database and business logic provided in a multi-tier environment;
• Provide programming, unit testing or other testing and help in developing plans to complete projects assigned;
• Perform tasks as required to help resolve calls to Support Desk using strong analytical and problem solving skills, performing the programming necessary to correct the problems;
• Integrate other 3rd party software into the common architect / framework as seamlessly as possible;
• Participate in team or corporate projects that are designed to improve the quality of Jenzabar products and services;
• May be asked to spend time on research and development of new software packages, latest versions of supported software and new directions in hardware technology.
