Thi s hands-on lab will cover all aspects of EX security from SQL logins, roles, and permissions, to EX Tasklist users, groups, permissions, to third party access from InfoMaker, Access, Excel, to EX specialized internal security for General Ledger, Notepad, Advising, Registration, etc. This will be an in-depth session to address concerns and questions related to EX security and how to implement the various pieces of the process (including Active Directory). Attendees will get handouts of the slides and other documentation, as well as scripts to use at their installation.

JICS – Visual Changes Using CSS & More
Take your portal's visual styling beyond simple banner and color changes in this hands-on visual customization workshop. Participants will learn how to make a wide range of changes to the JICS portal's appearance using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), JavaScript, and modifications to the default page layout. Bring your ideas and images along so you can make some progress on your own portal's design. Prior exposure to CSS and JavaScript is helpful as we will only briefly summarize the basics of these technologies. Attendees may share a lab computer or bring a laptop. Registered attendees may also submit technique demonstration requests to the instructor in advance.

Cognos 8.0 – Fundamentals of Reporting/Query Studio
This Lab Session will provide a detailed overview using the basic operations of the reporting features of the new Cognos 8 web-based product. The session will be focused on the two audiences of reporting within the system, the Report Studio which offers full reporting capability and the Query Studio which offers an easier to use ad-hoc tool for less technical personnel.

This session will focus on the look, feel, and functionality of InfoMaker 11. If you’re a veteran of InfoMaker, then you will get to peer inside of what’s different, what’s new, and what to watch out for. If you are new to InfoMaker, than this is a great session to learn more about the reporting tool that is the cornerstone of EX.

Implementing SQL Server 2005
This session will discuss installing, configuring, and using Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Instruction on how to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 for Jenzabar applications will be provided. Configuration options required and recommended by Jenzabar will be discussed. The main emphasis of this session will be on the new Microsoft SQL Server 2005 tools: Management Studio which replaces Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer; the improved Profiler, and a brief overview of the new SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio. Another key feature of this session will be the changes to the Database Maintenance Plans, security improvements, and SQL Agent improvements. A discussion of the changes from DTS to SSIS will be included as well.

Configurations & Best Practices for the Student Account Tools in JICS for EX
This session will provide a start-to-finish look at how to configure organize, and execute the processes involved in running charges & Must Pay courses through CRM Student. By taking a look at all of the tools involved in managing Student Accounts online, this in-depth session is geared towards Administrators, Registration, and Business Office users looking to review the set up, configuration and various steps that span EX Registration, and EX Business Office as well as JICS. Students can now generate their own charges and statements online. After a few set up steps and preparation, students will be able to generate their charges at the click of a button, produce a copy of their statement and be able to make a payment online. Utilizing Mail Merge Letters in Admissions & Development
This session will go through the complete setup of Document Definitions and Actions. The focus will be on creating a base query to pull data, and setting up the document in Microsoft Word. Participants will have a full understanding of how documents definitions need to be set up, and how they function, whether through Notepad Daily Procedure, or Development Letters. There will also be features discussed in WORD, such as Include Text, If-Then-Else, and filters. Within Notepad, the Mass Add function will also be discussed. Topics will include building a query, adding an action (open house invitations, campaign kick-off announcements, etc), and processing through Daily Procedure. The target audience will be people who need to print letters to communicate to their target audience.

This is a great session for those looking forward to creating and maintaining custom portlets in JICS, but would like a stronger foundation in C# - the primary coding language in creating your own portlets. Fundamentals of JasperReports for JAVA Platforms
JasperReports is the most popular Java-based reporting tool available today. It is both open source and database-independent. It is used today as part of the new CX HR modules and the Jenzabar Non-Traditional System (NTS). As the entire CX product line is moved to Java, it will increase in importance and will co-exist with ACE reports (for Informix users) and third-party tools like Cognos. This interactive online course enables software developers and IT personnel to fully utilize JasperReports. This seminar will provide software developers with an understanding of the JasperReports architecture and programmatic interfaces, as well as iReport, a visual designer for report creation. This seminar is ideal for both experienced report writers and those who are new to writing reports. Those who have experience with XML or HTML will find it easier to grasp most of the concepts presented in this course. For the small segment that discusses integration into the menu structures of Java applications, a background in object-oriented programming languages is an advantage.
