Tips & Tricks:
Think About Next Year’s Audit Today

As you’re preparing your audit schedules and working to pull information together, this is actually a good time to think about how this process can be automated or retained into a saved report for next year. You can make it faster and easier to reproduce the needed audit schedules for the future by calling up the stored report and pulling the required data for the new year. The transactional data you will need is there to help support you, along with reporting tools that make it possible, in combination with the existing reports.

In addition, some auditors have discovered that Jenzabar’s Financial Analysis Data Mart is a useful tool for querying data and drilling down into the detail. You may use the summary financial statements for the Statement of Financial Position and Statement of Activities, and then access the breakdown into the specific accounts that make up the totals and specific transactions to make inquiries even faster.

your ideas.

From the Executive Corner

Dear Friends:

Welcome to the second edition of the Jenzabar Express. Once again we are pleased to update you on all the news of recent months--and of course the Jenzabar Annual Meeting tops our list. We were delighted to meet with so many of you in San Diego, and it was gratifying to hear your positive response to this ever-growing event. We heard your suggestions for improvements just as clearly, and will do all we can to incorporate your good ideas into our plans for next year’s meeting.

During JAM 2005 we introduced our non-traditional system, Jenzabar NTS 1.2, and Jenzabar IR Touchstone, designed specifically for your Institutional Research staff. As always, we presented updates on all of our products and services, including JICS 6.0 on Microsoft .Net, the next generation of our campus portal, and our strategic consulting services.

JAM also gave us an opportunity to welcome Steven Krahn, Associate Director of Information Technology at North Central University, as the new president of Quodus, the Jenzabar QX and Jenzabar QE user group organization. Steve is a veteran board member who has served as Quodus Secretary. At this changing of the guard, it was a particular pleasure to thank outgoing Quodus President Paul Chase for his three years of exemplary service to the board.

With each edition of this newsletter we look forward to bringing you news about your colleagues at our client institutions. We hope you will be inspired to share your own news with us. And until next time, we wish you many fine days to savor the relaxed pace that summer often brings, if only for a while.

Best wishes,

Bob Maginn
Chairman and CEO
