JICS Update: True .NET Version Features a New User Interface and the Ability to Create Unlimited Roles
Jenzabar’s Internet Campus Solution (JICS) 6.0, our next-generation Web portal, provides a seamless interface to all facets of student life, from admission through graduation, tightly integrating academic requirements, resources, schedules and achievements for every constituent. Built on the Microsoft® .NET platform, JICS 6.0 is powered-up with additional features designed to take JICS to a new level of customizability, ease-of-learning, and ease-of-use.
JICS 6.0 includes user interface (UI) improvements such as a new tab-based UI, breadcrumb trails and sidebar navigation. It also now offers unlimited defined roles, and support for .NET standards, including .NET plugins and portlets (which can be developed in C# or with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET development tools).
The familiar industry-standard, tab-based interface and breadcrumb trails in JICS 6.0 make it simpler for users to navigate the portal site, and allow new users to start using the system with little or no training. This common point-of-entry for constituents, on campus and off-campus, is now even easier to use.
The availability of unlimited roles, no longer limited to those defined within the backend ERP, makes it easier for administrators to limit access to JICS-based content and to target particular constituents with specific information. New roles can include, for example, students who also work in the business office, seniors on the women’s basketball team, and donors who are also parents, among others.
The institution’s developers can use the latest Microsoft development tools, as well as the most current languages and techniques. Jenzabar offers classes in portlet development that leverage a developer’s .NET skill set. In addition, custom portlets created within the new .NET framework of JICS 6.0 can be re-used within future releases of the JICS portal.
Jenzabar NTS Update: Jenzabar’s Non-Traditional System Supports Flexibility, Compatibility and Accountability
Non-traditional courses are a big revenue generator for many schools, but can be a challenge to manage. Jenzabar’s Non-Traditional System (NTS) solution is designed specifically to market, administer and evaluate non-traditional offerings, from one-day courses to a multi-course curriculum, on campus or online. With Jenzabar’s NTS, within hours, administrators can create a course offering, post it to a Web site for quick admission registration, e-mail prospective participants, and receive registrations and tuition payments. Administrators can track all costs associated with an individual section and determine its profitability before the session begins.
Jenzabar NTS is designed to work with existing ERP and financial solutions, and addresses continuing education, professional development programs, certificate programs, and degree completion programs. Its “shopping cart” functionality includes online registration and payment, cohort group and instructor management, and marketing planning, execution and assessment. Jenzabar NTS also provides a range of options for marketing planning and assessment that can assess which marketing tactics are effective.
If you are interested in influencing the direction and design of our NTS product as a member of our NTS Design Partner Program, or if you simply want more information on the Jenzabar NTS product, please contact your local sales representative or send e-mail to Jeanne Heston (jeanne.heston@jenzabar.net), Director of Product Marketing.
